The US markets rose this week to limit the worst weekly losses in 5 years. For the week, Dow Jones gained 3%, S&P 500 gained 2.8% while the Nasdaq rose 2.5%. The indexes climbed for 4 days after declines on 26th Nov left them down 10% from their records set on 9th Oct, which marks the usual market "correction". The gains were also sparked after the Fed chairman, Ben Bernanke signal a further rate cut is on the horizon to help ease the burden on the financial market.
Asian market this week also post quite a huge weekly gains. Nikkei rose from 15025 to end the week at 15790 with its lowest point at 14795 and highest peak at 15800. The Kospi rose from 228.95 to end the week at 242.70 with its lowest point at 227.10 and highest peak at 244.85. While the HangSeng rose from 27439 to end the week at 28875 with its lowest point at 26657 and highest peak at 28932. However, the HangSeng is on a new contract and this data is not from the beginning of the week. Also please note that these asian markets prices are derived from futures market and I don't use the actual index market.
